This set bears the orginal Gorham Mfg. mark, indicating it was produced prior to 1870. The set also has an intwined 'SM' monogram on each piece.

The incredible tea service was made by the famous Jeweler and Goldsmith that was located on 6 Rue de la Paix in Paris. Their many famous patrons included Napoleon III, Princess Eugenie, and King Louis Philippe. The business first opened its doors in 1821 and closed in 1932. The Aucoc family (brothers Louis and Andre) were known for their elegant and inspirational Art Nouveau jewelry and silver wares and were the leading Jeweler in Paris. With this set, you are not only purchasing a tea service, you are capturing a piece of European history at the height of the Art Nouveau movement. The Coffee pot holds 4 cups, the tea pot holds 4 cups, and the Hot water urn holds 10 cups. The sterling waiter tray is accented with a crest style monogram and a crown. Its provance in unknown.
