Christmas Story by Portmeirion Potteries
|
"Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse." These famous words make up the first line of the poem,
“A Visit from St. Nicholas” and were published in 1823 by
Clement Clarke Moore. The poem was written for his two daughters and was later submitted to the
Troy Sentinel for publication. Because of the poem’s worldwide popularity, International China decided to commit the famous words of the poem to china! After soliciting the famous folk artist
Susan Winget to illustrate the story, International released what became a very popular pattern. Later, the rights to
Christmas Story were purchased by the renowned
Portmeirion Studios. Today, Susan Winget continues working with Portmeirion Studios to create intricate designs for this unique pattern. Each piece from the
Christmas Story pattern features a different line from Moore’s famous poem and an accompanying illustration. This month we feature several new items that have been introduced for 2005. These "Series 4" items include four
salad plates, a
10 1/8 ” square baker, a
10 1/2” round pie baking plate, two new
trivets, a
3-piece child’s set, and a
miniature plate set with wall rack. Follow the links to below to browse and order at great values in one of the most fun holiday patterns of all time!
