Featured Pet (and Pet Owner!) at Replacements, Ltd.

Brenda Overman, Silver Inventory Specialist in the Silver Inventory Department at Replacements, Ltd., has been bringing her pet “Cody” to work since he was 8 weeks old. “This past July was his first birthday,” Brenda said, “so this month (September) will mark his first full year as a Replacements, Ltd. employee!”

Cody came to Brenda by way of her father, who breeds dogs. “My Dad’s dogs had a litter of 6 puppies,” Brenda said. “When I went to see them, Cody was quiet and a little bit shy. I knew he was the dog for me!”

Brenda is thankful for the Replacements, Ltd. pet-friendly policy. “It’s been great to have Cody at work,” Brenda said. “Basically, he’s been raised here. It’s been good for him, because he was so shy at first. But he has his buddy, ‘Lincoln,’ a schnauzer he plays with every day. And he has his favorite people in the silver department – whenever Robin Slate, Tim Roehner, or Vicki Onus come around, he gets so excited!”

“People here love animals so much,” Brenda said, “that they’re always offering Cody treats. He has a funny habit, so I have to be careful with him, so he won’t hurt someone’s feelings. If a person offers him a treat or a toy he doesn’t want, he pushes it away with his nose, then lifts his nose and turns his head away!”

Soon Brenda may also be bringing Cody’s brother, “Rowdy,” to work. “Rowdy was returned to my Dad by a family who said they couldn’t keep him,” Brenda said. “Whenever you came around him after he was returned, he crouched down and shook all over. You could tell he hadn’t been treated right. When I saw that, I told my Dad I would take him, so nothing else bad would ever happen to him. Cody loves having Rowdy at home with him.”

Brenda thinks it will be easier to get Rowdy adjusted to his workplace, since Cody already has a routine established. “Replacements, Ltd. is just a great place to work,” Brenda said. “I have the freedom to bring my pets in every day. I’ve been here for 12 years, and I’m very satisfied. I’m proud of the work I’m able to do.”
